They tread softly but leave indelible tracks.
Out of the more than 7,200 staff members at Stanford, a trio of standout employees is recognized each year as the Amy J. Blue Award winners.
The recipients for 2000 are Herb Grawert, a renowned craftsman in Student Housing Services circles; Imelda White, administrator in the Office for Religious Life; and Elizabeth Hiyama, an associate director of Residential Education. Together they represent about 80 years of service to the university.
Those who work with them have been noticing the quality of their work, one deed at a time, through the years. Their stories follow:
