Senate holds first meeting Thursday

The first meeting of the 32nd Senate of the Academic Council, known informally as the Faculty Senate, will take place Thursday.

The steering committee of the 32nd Senate is made up of the chairman of the senate, Mark Zoback, geophysics; Phyllis Gardner, molecular pharmacology; Deborah Gordon, biological sciences; Craig Heller, biological sciences; Brad Osgood, electrical engineering; Mary Pratt, Spanish and Portuguese; and James Sheehan, history.

At Thursday's short meeting, the senate will receive a report from the Committee on Academic Appraisal and Achievement on its activities during the 1998-99 academic year. Members of the senate will then adjourn for an informal executive session. SR
