Bechtel's International Festival to feature food, crafts and dancing

Bechtel International Center will present the 19th annual International Festival from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 8, in the I-Center's backyard. International dances and performances will be presented throughout the afternoon. There also will be cultural displays, talks on orchids and an orchid display, and international food and crafts for sale. The festival is free and open to the public.

The festival is part of International Week, to be held May 1 through May 8. Events will include a talk on Argentine music and tango at 7:30 p.m. May 1; a "Peace and Friendship in the Balkans Night" of music and dance at 7 p.m. May 2; a lecture series on Brazilian culture and music at noon May 3 through May 7; an "Art for Peace" dance class at 7 p.m. May 3; a "Many Cultures, One World" music gathering (bring your own instrument) at 9 p.m. May 3; a performance by Sacred Harp Singers at 7:30 p.m. May 4; a talk and slide show on Nigerian popular culture at 7 p.m. May 5; an Argentine Milonga party at 8 p.m. May 7; and an Okinawan music and dance class/performance at 7 p.m. May 8. All events will be held in the Bechtel International Center.
