Donald Barr’s research interests include reform of premedical education; minority student attrition from the pre-medical curriculum; expanding access to health care for California’s low-income population; social and economic factors contributing to health disparities; and the social and political context of health care reform.

Barr received his MD from the University of California, San Francisco, and his PhD in sociology from Stanford University. He is a teaching professor in pediatrics at Stanford School of Medicine, and teaches health policy in the undergraduate Program in Human Biology in the School of Humanities and Sciences.
