TEAGAN GERHART was born 80 percent deaf and with an incomplete palate. She endured 17 surgeries before she came to Stanford. Then when she got here, the road still was not smooth. But even a broken arm freshman year could not keep this standout pitcher on the Cardinal softball team down. A senior majoring in human biology, she says she’s always been drawn to the medical field and a desire to give back to a profession that has done so much for her.
