New war in Chechnya to be discussed Nov. 23

Stanford's Center for Russian and East European Studies will host a roundtable discussion of "The New War in Chechnya" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, in the Wattis Room of the Littlefield Management Center on Lasuen Street.

The panelists will be John Dunlop, senior fellow at the Hoover Institution; Andrew Kuchins, associate director of the Center for International Security and Cooperation; Gail Lapidus, a senior fellow at the Institute for International Studies who has studied ethnic group conflicts and methods for resolving them within the former Soviet Union; and Thomas W. Simons, consulting professor of history and former U.S. Ambassador to Poland and Pakistan.
