Walsh named director of Stanford News Service

Eileen Walsh, associate director of Stanford News Service and editor of Stanford Report, has been named director of the News Service, effective Sept. 1.

 

She succeeds Alan Acosta, who is now director of University Communications.

 

Walsh has been with the News Service since 1984. In addition to editing Stanford Report, she has been a writer, editor of the Stanford Observer and acting director of the News Service. She came to the News Service from the San Jose Mercury News.

 

Elaine Ray, assistant director of the News Service, will become associate director and editor of Stanford Report. She has been with the News Service since 1996, as a writer and editor of the daily online edition of Stanford Report. She worked previously at the Boston Globe.

 

Staff writer James Robinson, who joined the News Service in 1998 from Agence France-Presse, will become assistant director of the News Service and editor of the daily online edition.
