Nominations being accepted for staff excellence award

STANFORD -- Nominations are being accepted through April 24 for the sixth annual Amy J. Blue Awards, which recognize exceptional staff members at Stanford University.

The awards are named for Amy J. Blue, who was associate vice president for administrative services when she died in 1988. Each year, one Amy J. Blue Award and several "Amys" are presented. The recipient of the main award receives $1,000 to support professional development activities.

The endowment supporting the award was established by a small group of women who knew Blue, with contributions from her colleagues, friends and family.

Any Stanford faculty member, staff member or student can nominate a staff member for the award. Ideal nominees, according to the award committee, are dedicated to accomplishment, committed to people and enthusiastic.

Nominations should identify any exceptional staff member, including those who may not be particularly visible or senior. Nominations must be received by Wednesday, April 24. The winners will be notified by May 15.

Nomination forms have been distributed via interdepartmental mail. They can be returned, in an envelope, to the Amy J. Blue Awards Selection Committee, c/o Memorial Church, mail code 2090. Nominations also can be sent electronically to amy.blue.award@forsythe.

The selection committee includes the four surviving previous winners of the award, and five other faculty and staff members.
