Democracy center picks 28 international leaders as summer fellows
Twenty-eight civic, political and economic leaders from 24 countries make up this year's class of Stanford Summer Fellows on Democracy and Development.
The fellowship program directed by the Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law runs from July 28 to Aug. 15. The fellows are coming from countries including Iraq, Kazakhstan, Belarus and China to share their experiences as war journalists, members of parliament, academics and human rights activists.
The fellows will split their days between seminars with Stanford faculty and talks by keynote speakers. They also will lead class sessions to share insights into how reform efforts have fared in their home countries.
