Victor Fuchs honored
VICTOR FUCHS, the Henry J. Kaiser, Jr., Professor of Economics and of Health Research and Policy, Emeritus, has been honored by a new namesake award for lifetime contributions given by the American Society of Health Economists.
Fuchs was one of the first economists to focus his research on health. His early work emphasized the importance of diet and exercise in the role of health and healthcare costs.
The Victor R. Fuchs Award for Lifetime Contributions to the Field of Health Economics will be awarded biennially. The first recipient is Michael Grossman, a distinguished professor of economics at the City University of New York Graduate Center and director of the Health Economics Program at the National Bureau of Economic Research.
