MEDIA ADVISORY: COMMENCEMENT LOGISTICS

Stanford's 113th Commencement begins at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, June 13, at Stanford Stadium with the student processional known as the Wacky Walk. The formal ceremony follows at 10 a.m., with a keynote address by Sandra Day O'Connor, associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. The program concludes at noon.

REGISTRATION: All media representatives planning to cover the event must register with the News Service by 4 p.m. Thursday, June 10. Please provide full name, title, news organization, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail address to Grace Evans by phone at (650) 723-2558, fax at (650) 725-0247 or e-mail at gmevans@stanford.edu.

FREELANCERS: Freelance reporters and photographers should fax or e-mail a letter from the news organization for which they will be working along with the information listed above. They will be required to bring a valid photo ID to the News Service at 425 Santa Teresa Street on Thursday, June 10, or Friday, June 11, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to secure a temporary press credential.

Please note that a valid press credential either from Stanford News Service or an established news organization will be required to park in or enter designated press areas.

PARKING: Media parking will be in Lot 2, which can be accessed from El Camino Real. Heading south on El Camino, make a right at Sam McDonald Mall just south of Galvez Street. A media check-in table will be located near Lot 2. Media should enter the stadium at Gate 1. ACCESS TO THE STADIUM FLOOR WILL CLOSE AT 8:30 A.M. Latecomers will be escorted in at the News Service's discretion.

A mult box will be available for broadcasters.

All bags will be subject to search.

Baccalaureate Celebration, Inner Quadrangle

Speaker: Jim Wallis, founder of Sojourners, an organization of Christians for justice and peace, and editor of Sojourners magazine, a publication devoted to covering faith, politics and culture

10:30 a.m.

Dedication of Senior Class Plaque, Inner Quadrangle

11:30 a.m.

Class Day Luncheon for seniors and their families

Ford Center Plaza

Speaker: Stanford political science Professor Terry Karl

*Due to limited space, media seating cannot be guaranteed. Press arrangements are subject to change.

Media access to activities not included in this advisory is at the discretion of event organizers.
