MEDIA ADVISORY: COMMENCEMENT LOGISTICS UPDATE

Stanford's 112th Commencement begins at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, June 15, at Stanford Memorial Stadium with the student processional known as the Wacky Walk. The formal ceremony follows at 10 a.m., with a keynote address by Peruvian President and Stanford alumnus Alejandro Toledo.

The university will award 1865 bachelor's degrees, 1976 master's degrees, and 899 doctoral degrees. The undergraduate class of 2003 includes 410 seniors graduating with departmental honors and 290 graduating with university distinction. One hundred thirty-seven students have satisfied the requirements of more than one major; 56 are graduating with dual bachelor's degrees; 152 are graduating with both a bachelor's and a master's degree and 453 students have completed minors.

Media representatives planning to cover the event must register with the News Service by 4 p.m. today.

Please note that a valid press credential either from Stanford News Service or an established news organization will be required to park in designated press lots and to enter press areas at the stadium.

PARKING: Media parking will be in Lot 2, which is off El Camino Real. Heading south on El Camino, make a right at Sam McDonald Mall just south of Galvez Street.

There also will be limited parking for broadcast trucks in the TV Compound via Galvez Street and Nelson Road, space permitting. Broadcasters wishing to park in the TV Compound should arrive no later than 7:45 a.m.

PRESS CHECK-IN: Media should enter the stadium at Gate 3, which will be designated for press only. Media access to the stadium floor will be at the field entrance marked S-SS. Mult boxes will be set up at the front of the stage. Access to the press area will close at 9:30 a.m.

All bags will be subject to search.
