Cantor Center for Visual Arts will be open the Fourth of July

The Cantor Center for Visual Arts will be open July 4 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. (its usual hours for Thursday).

The center is located on campus at the intersection of Lomita Drive and Museum Way. Admission is free. For information, call (650) 723-4177 or visit the web at www.stanford.edu/dept/ccva.

Exhibitions now on view include Uncommon Legacies: Native American Art from the Peabody Essex Museum (no tour of the exhibit is scheduled for July 4); Hannelore Baron: Works from 1969 to 1987; and Transgenic Light, an exhibit focusing on the green fluorescent protein gene that scientists sometimes insert into an animal's DNA to study certain aspects of cells.
