MEDIA ADVISORY: COMMENCEMENT LOGISTICS

Stanford's 111th Commencement begins at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, June 16, with the student processional known as the Wacky Walk. The formal ceremony follows at 10 a.m., with a keynote address by Condoleezza Rice, U.S. national security adviser and former Stanford provost. The program concludes at noon.

Stanford will be awarding 1,756 bachelor's degrees, 1,985 master's degrees and 867 doctoral degrees. In addition, 424 seniors will graduate with departmental honors, 268 with University Distinction, 139 with multiple majors, 55 with dual bachelor's degrees, 145 with combined bachelor's and master's degrees, and 461 seniors have completed minors.

Media representatives who plan to cover Commencement should have registered with the News Service.

A temporary credential will be issued to all registered press and will be available for pick up from the News Service at 425 Santa Teresa St. on Thursday, June 13, or Friday, June 14, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Credentials that are not secured by Friday, June 14, at 4 p. m. will be available at Stanford Stadium at Gate 3 on Sunday, June 16 between 8 a.m. and 9:15 a.m.

PARKING: Media parking will be in Lot 2, which is off El Camino Real. Heading south on El Camino, make a right at Sam McDonald Mall just south of Galvez Street.

PRESS CHECK-IN: Media should enter the stadium at Gate 3, which will be designated for press only. Registered press may pick up temporary credentials there. Media access to the stadium floor will be at the field entrance marked S-SS. Mult boxes will be set up at the front of the stage. Access to the press area will close at 9:30.* All bags will be subject to search.
