Celebration of recently published Jewish American literature anthology set for Feb. 28

An event celebrating the recent publication of Jewish American Literature: A Norton Anthology is set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, in the first floor auditorium (Room 113) of Building 260.

Sponsored by Stanford's Hillel Foundation and the Jewish Studies Program, the event is free and open to the public. Students and two of the anthology's editors, Stanford English Professor John Felstiner and former doctoral student Kathryn Hellerstein (now a professor at the University of Pennsylvania), will read from the volume.

The program also will feature music by Gershwin, Bernstein, and Rodgers and Hammerstein; a scene from Clifford Odets' play Awake and Sing!; Woody Allen's voice; and readings by some authors, such as poet Carl Rakosi, whose work is included in the anthology.

Discounted copies of the anthology will be available at the event. For more information, call Rabbi Noa Kushner at (650) 723-1602.
