Faculty/staff discount rolled out for football season tickets
Stanford faculty and staff, as well as employees of the hospitals and of SLAC, are being given an opportunity to purchase football season tickets at a 40 percent discount during an exclusive two-day sale. The program is Stanford Athletics' way of saying thanks for the support it receives from the campus community.
Stanford faculty and staff, and employees of the hospitals and SLAC, can purchase football season tickets at a 40 percent discount May 12-13.
Stanford Athletics is offering faculty and staff a steeply discounted opportunity to buy season tickets for the Pac-12 champion Cardinal's 2014 season.
The program, which will begin Monday, May 12, offers faculty and staff a 40 percent discount – the most generous discount offered. The discount applies to benefits-eligible employees at the university as well as those at Stanford Hospital & Clinics, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital and the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. Up to four discounted season tickets can be purchased per account, with additional season tickets available at the regular price.
To sweeten the deal, Athletics is also offering current faculty and staff football season ticket holders an opportunity to earn prizes by encouraging their colleagues to sign up. Under a program currently under way, faculty and staff ticket holders are being given a unique promotional code which, if used by another faculty or staff member to buy season tickets, will make the referrer eligible for prizes.
Winners, who will be announced June 16, could earn, for instance, a trip to the October Notre Dame game, including two seats round-trip on the team charter, a room at the team hotel and two tickets to the game. Every faculty or staff member who refers a colleague for season tickets will receive a Blu-Ray disc with the team's pre-game highlight videos from the 2013 football season.
To take advantage of the offer, eligible faculty and staff can phone (800) STANFORD (782-6367) or visit the website beginning Monday at 9 a.m., using the promotional code Card40FS. Faculty and staff are being given the two-day window before season tickets are available to the public May 14.
According to Mike Eubanks, assistant athletic director, Athletics sold out every home game in 2013. The objective of the 40 percent discount program, he said, is not to sell more season tickets. That isn't a problem for the Cardinal. The objective, he said, is to fill Stanford Stadium with fervent supporters and to recognize members of the Stanford community.
"The support of the Stanford community has a lot to do with Stanford Football playing in back-to-back Rose Bowl games and with our scholar-athletes achieving a 100 percent graduation rate," Eubanks said. "This is our way of saying thank you."
He added, "Our football program – and the overall Stanford Athletics enterprise – exists and thrives only because of the support of Stanford's community, especially its faculty and staff. There are a lot of advantages to working at Stanford, and we'd like attending Cardinal football games at a greatly reduced rate to be one of them."
