Stanford Students provide dairy goats for impoverished communities
By selling photo opportunities with a goat on White Plaza, members of the InterVarsity Graduate Christian Fellowship raised $6,600 to purchase 84 dairy goats for families in poor areas. Why goats? Dairy goats provide families with protein-rich milk, up to a ton a year from one animal, according to the Fellowship. The extra milk is often sold for a much needed boost in income. The goats will be delivered through the charitable organization World Vision.
Crocker the dairy goat was the center of attention of attention on White Plaza during a fund-raising drive on May 21 to buy goats for impoverished communities in Africa. The event was sponsored by the InterVarsity Graduate Christian Fellowship. Supporters paid to have their picture taken with Darcy, raising enough money to purchase 84 goats.
