Senate will convene Thursday

The Faculty Senate will convene Thursday for its third meeting of the winter quarter.

The senate will hear a report on how the new facilities at the School of Medicine will transform research and education, presented by Philip Pizzo, dean of the Medical School and a professor of pediatrics and of microbiology and immunology; Renee A. Reijo Pera, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology; and Irving Weissman, a professor of clinical investigation in cancer research and of developmental biology.

The senate also will hear a report on proposed revisions to the academic calendar and enrollment deadlines, presented by university Registrar Thomas Black; Phillipe Buc, a professor of history and chair of the Committee on Undergraduate Standards and Policy; and Philip Lavori, a professor of health research and policy and chair of the Committee on Graduate Studies.

The senate meeting is scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m. in Room 180 of the Law School.
