Construction begins on Redwood City center

Stanford Hospital & Clinics began construction Jan. 26 for an outpatient center in Redwood City. It will be the hospital's first comprehensive outpatient center away from the Palo Alto campus.

Doors are scheduled to open in late 2008 and will include such services as orthopedics, dermatology, pain management, ambulatory surgery, one of the largest free-standing imaging centers in Northern California, and the West Coast's largest sleep study center.

The new Stanford University Medicine Outpatient Center will use the facilities originally occupied by Excite@Home near U.S. Highway 101. The building interiors are being renovated, but no additional development is needed.

"This new site will give patients additional access to the unique and excellent state-of-the art care that we provide," said Martha Marsh, hospital president and CEO. "The population of our area continues to grow and as time passes our communities will have more residents, particularly seniors, who are in need of locally accessible, leading-edge medical services."
