Nov. 5 fun run against pulmonary hypertension
The sixth annual Race Against Pulmonary Hypertension is set to begin at 9 a.m. Nov. 5, rain or shine, just south of the football stadium.
All proceeds from the 5K fun run and walk will benefit the Ewing Family Fund for Pulmonary Hypertension Research at Stanford and the Pulmonary Hypertension Association. Online registration is available through Nov. 1 at a cost of $25. After that, the fee will be $30 and can be done on race day from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. All registrants receive free refreshments and a long-sleeved T-shirt.
The course is flat and paved. After leaving the stadium, it loops through campus and ends in PAC10 Plaza. There will be one water station located midway through the course.
The race was started in 2001 by a pulmonary hypertension patient and her family in an effort to promote greater awareness about this devastating disease. More than half a million Americans live with this illness, which affects the heart and lungs of children and adults and causes fatigue, severe shortness of breath and fainting.
