James Lock

James Lock, MD, PhD, has been promoted to professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, as of Oct. 1. He has been developing a research program for eating disorders in children and adolescents. He directs both the Stanford Child and Adolescent Eating Disorder Program and the Comprehensive Pediatric Care Unit at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital.

Alfred T. Lane. MD, professor of dermatology and of pediatrics, was elected president of the Association of Professors of Dermatology. Much of Lane's research focuses on developing gene therapy for genetic skin diseases in children.

Hermann Peter Lorenz, MD, has been promoted to professor of surgery, as of Oct. 1. His past work involved scarless wound healing with the translational goal of reducing post-surgical repair scar formation. His current research focuses on the biology of fat-derived stem cells and their use for tissue engineering.

Heidi Feldman, MD, PhD, has been appointed professor of pediatrics (neonatology) at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, as of Oct. 1. Much of her research is focused on child language and language development. Currently, she is supervising a study on applications of a World Health Organization's disability classification system for transitioning youths with developmental disorders into adult health-care systems. She is also medical director of the Mary L. Johnson Developmental and Behavioral Assessment Unit at Packard.
