Oct. 21 symposium on biomedical computation
The seventh annual student-organized symposium on Biomedical Computation at Stanford will be Oct. 21 at the Hewlett Teaching Center. The event brings together work done across Stanford in fields related to biomedical computation. In 2005 it drew 450 attendees and featured more than 60 projects.
Keynote speakers include David Lipman, MD, director of the National Center for Biotechnology Information; Andrew McCulloch, PhD, chair of the bioengineering department, UC-San Diego, and Cleve Moler PhD, founder of Mathworks Inc. (Matlab).
The daylong event begins with opening remarks at 8:45 a.m. and includes presentations and posters from Stanford students and postdocs on such topics as biomedical image acquisition, robotics and biomechanical simulation.
Early registration is free for Stanford students and staff, though the deadline is today. Members of the public are also welcome to attend. To sign up online and for additional information, please visit http://bcats.stanford.edu.
