Stanford University Libraries will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Meyer Library with an open house and celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1. Featured speaker is alumnus Stewart Brand, a founder of the Whole Earth Catalog and author of How Buildings Learn: What Happens After They're Built, who will talk beginning at 2 p.m. in Room 160 (the 24-hour study room). Other planned events include a paper airplane contest (in honor of those that have sailed through the light well over the years), tours and musical performances.

Library staff have created a website to collect memories of Meyer Library's early days at http://meyer40th.stanford.edu/. The open house agenda also is archived on the site under the heading "Recent Posts."
