Tickets on sale now for bloodmobile fundraiser
Stanford Blood Center is aiming to buy a new bloodmobile, and it's holding a benefit gala Nov. 30 to help pay for it.
About half of the blood collected by the center comes from donations at its vans, which travel to businesses, schools, churches and other sites. The bloodmobiles are in great demand, so whenever one is offline for repairs, opportunities are missed to increase the blood supply—opportunities that could seriously affect the well-being of some hospital patients.
The center hopes to acquire a new six-bed vehicle that is set up to make donating even more efficient and comfortable for donors.
Tickets cost $200 each. The celebration runs from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Garden Court Hotel, including food, an open bar, music and magic entertainment. There also will be an auction with such items as a San Jose Sharks luxury box, a Caribbean cruise, a workout with former 49er Roger Craig and a private tour of the Legion of Honor.
