Nov. 28 panel, film on children's health in Africa

Children's health issues in Africa will be examined at a Nov. 28 seminar at the Bechtel Conference Center. Discussion will cover the effects of conflict and displacement, the psychological influence on child health and development and work being done to assist children affected by AIDS.

The event starts at 4:15 p.m. with the film "Brother's Keeper: Orphaned by AIDS," followed by a panel with Paul Wise, MD, the Richard E. Behrman Professor of Child Health and Society; Steve Stedman, PhD, senior fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies; Ruthann Richter, media relations director at the medical school; Ellen Schell, PhD, international programs director of Global AIDS Interfaith Alliance, and Lucy Thairu, PhD, postdoctoral fellow in the division of infectious diseases and a visiting scholar at the Center for African Studies.
