Stefanie S. Jeffrey, MD, associate professor of surgery and chief of surgical oncology research, is the recipient of the NASA Space Act Board Award for her contribution to a multimodality instrument for tissue characterization. She co-developed the multisensor Smart Probe with Robert Mah, PhD, at NASA Ames Research Center for real-time analysis of normal and malignant tissue signatures based on multiple in-vivo physiologic measurements.
Sabine Kohler, MD, has been promoted to professor of pathology and of dermatology, as of May 1. Her research interests include the application of molecular biologic techniques to cutaneous lymphoid proliferation and clinical research related to graft-versus-host disease. Kohler also directs the dermatopathology fellowship program.
Natalie Rasgon, MD, PhD, has been promoted to professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, as of May 1. For the last five years, her research has focused on neuroendocrine and brain imaging studies of estrogen effects on depressed menopausal women. Rasgon is director of the Behavioral Neuroendocrinology Program and the Women's Wellness Program in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She also holds a courtesy appointment in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Christy I. Sandborg, MD, has been promoted to associate professor of pediatrics (rheumatology) at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital as of May 1. Her current research interests focus on the study of lupus in children. Sandborg also serves as chief of pediatric rheumatology at Packard Children's.
