Events to showcase student research

Those interested in the work of the next generation of medical researchers should attend the annual Medical Student Research and Practice of Medicine Symposium May 17 and student talks May 18, both in Fairchild Auditorium.

The symposium will feature posters from 120 students, who will be available to discuss their findings. Their work includes basic and clinical studies as well as projects from the Practice of Medicine Class, which requires students to research health-care issues and work with community partners to develop solutions.

The event begins at 11 a.m. with remarks from Julie Parsonnet, MD, senior associate dean for medical education. At 2 p.m. Pat Cross, PhD, associate dean for medical student research and scholarship, will offer an overview, followed by an award ceremony.

At 8 a.m. on May 18, students whose work was in the symposium will speak at the Department of Medicine Grand Rounds.
