Commencement at 1:30 p.m., June 17

The medical school commencement ceremony will begin on the Dean's lawn at 1:30 p.m. June 17 after a luncheon in front of Fairchild Auditorium.

An invocation by William "Scotty" McLennan, dean of religious life, will open the proceedings, followed by welcomes from Philip Pizzo, MD, dean of the School of Medicine, and Ross Bright, MD, associate dean for alumni affairs. The student speakers are Iwei Yeh, who is to receive a PhD in biomedical informatics, and Jason Karamchandani, who is to receive an MD.

After the addresses, winners of awards for outstanding contributions to graduate and medical education, patient care and teaching will be honored.

The festivities will culminate with the awarding of diplomas to 36 MS candidates, 86 PhD candidates and 99 MD candidates, including eight who are receiving both MDs and PhDs. A fusillade of popping corks will signal the start of a post-ceremony champagne reception.
