Gov. Bush on education
On Jan. 12, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush told members of the Hoover Institution’s Koret Task Force on K-12 Education Reform that the United States will suffer if it does not improve its school system. Change is possible, he said. Referring to examples of reform in Florida, he said the number of fourth-graders reading at grade level has jumped 20 percent since 1998. He also said more students are taking Advanced Placement courses and that graduation rates have increased.
