2006 Wallenberg grant proposals sought
The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation and Stanford University seek proposals in support of collaborations between Swedish academic institutions and Stanford aimed at improving teaching and learning.
The objectives of the Wallenberg Global Learning Network (WGLN II) are to produce new knowledge for best learning practices and to develop pedagogic and technical solutions for use in a variety of university and pre-college settings. The WGLN II competitive faculty grants program, which will distribute as much as $2 million in 2006, is interested in projects that bring together teaching faculty, technology specialists and experts in the learning sciences. All projects are required to be research collaborations between Swedish and Stanford scholars. A strong emphasis is placed on the implementation and testing of innovative information and communication technologies and pedagogic methods in courses at the college and pre-college levels. Thirteen awards were approved in 2005 with the participation of faculty at 10 Swedish academic institutions and more than a dozen departments and groups on campus.
