Phyllis Gardner, MD, has been promoted to professor of medicine, as of Feb. 2. She is interested in studying the general process of signal transduction in cells, focusing on the role that ion channels play in this process.
David Paik, PhD, has been appointed assistant professor (research) of radiology, as of Jan. 1. His research involves the computer-aided interpretation of three-dimensional medical images, and he is working to develop and evaluate new methods to accomplish this task, relying on visualization and quantitative analysis as well as computer-aided detection.
Kenneth Weinberg, MD, has been appointed professor of pediatrics, as of Dec. 16. He is researching the relationship between lymphocyte development and immune deficiency. He also directs the Division of Stem Cell Transplantation, which works to translate today's groundbreaking discoveries into state-of-the-art care for a number of devastating hematological disorders, immunodeficiency disorders and cancers impacting children around the world.
