Halloween with Kahn

Matt Kahn deserves the tribute you paid to him ("Exhibition reviews artist's 55 years creating on campus," Jan. 25). He is one of Stanford's great teachers. But you omitted one of the pixie things that made him such an outstanding professor: Every Halloween, he had his students carve wild and wondrous pumpkins. They were unbelievable—fun, exciting, like nothing ever seen before.

And Matt displayed them all on the driveway of his home. Beautiful!
