It's time for Dean's Spirit

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2006 Employee of the Year Spirit Awards.

School of Medicine faculty, staff, fellows, postdocs and students are encouraged to submit names of eligible staff members in any department or administrative area. To be eligible, staff members must have been employed as regular employees, at 50 percent FTE or more, in one department/unit for the past two years. Bargaining unit workers are not eligible.

Dean Philip Pizzo will present the two selected employees with a $1,000 cash award and an "A" parking sticker, or the monetary equivalent for a bicycle. The prizes are given Nov. 9 at the school's annual Staff Recognition Banquet.

This annual award allows departments and units to recognize and honor those employees who demonstrate the following criteria: initiative, dedication, motivation, positive attitude and first-rate customer service.

Ballots and brochures will be distributed this week. They are also available at the Spirit Award Web site: http://med.stanford.edu/SPIRIT. All ballots must be received by Sept. 21. Those who submit a completed nomination will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift certificate to the Stanford Shopping Center.
