Faculty, staff, emeriti eligible for 50 percent discount on football season tickets
Stanford Athletics is offering faculty, staff and those with emeritus status a 50 percent discount on season tickets for the 2006 football season in the faculty/staff section of the new Stanford Stadium. When the stadium opens on Sept. 16, it will have an expanded section for faculty and staff in the upper bowl of the east side, between the 15-and 45-yard lines.
Season tickets for seats between the 30- and 45-yard lines, in the "Sideline Advantage" section, have been discounted to $138 per person. Season tickets for adjacent "Sideline Plus" seats, those between the 15- and 30-yard lines, have been discounted to $125. Emeriti and current full-time, benefited faculty and staff—academic and non-academic—are eligible for the discount.
"Faculty and staff are an important part of our community," Director of Athletics Bill Walsh said in a press release issued by Stanford Athletics on March 28. "We hope our new ticket offer will allow more faculty and staff to take part in celebrating and cheering on our student-athletes."
In an effort to offer affiliates an equal opportunity to sit in the designated sections, the number of discounted season tickets will be limited to four per household. Those who are interested in purchasing more than four tickets or who prefer to sit in another part of the stadium can do so at the regular season ticket price.
"I was delighted with this decision and hope that the new offer will encourage more faculty and staff attendance at games," Provost John Etchemendy said in the release. Previously, faculty and staff could purchase tickets at a 15 percent discount, and emeriti were not eligible for the markdown, according to the Department of Athletics.
The $90 million stadium project aims to transform the venue—home to Stanford football since 1921—into a state-of-the-art college football facility. Statistics on the stadium's features, interactive images of the facility and a full list of season ticket prices are on the web at http://www.stanfordstadium.com/.
The season ticket package includes admission to six homes games, including the Sept. 9 match against San Jose State University at Spartan Stadium. Faculty and staff who already have submitted order forms are being contacted by a representative from the ticket office to discuss the new options. To place an order, call the ticket office at 723-1021. An order form also can be downloaded from the stadium website.
