BenefitSU to hold all-day health fair; free screenings offered to staffers
The Benefits Department will host its second annual all-day wellness fair on Tuesday, April 25, in Tresidder Union's Oak Lounge from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The purpose of the fair is to promote the university's wellness initiative, which includes incentives for employees who take their medical plan's health-risk assessment and track their wellness and health-improvement activities throughout the year.
Free health screenings at the fair will provide many of the results required to complete the assessments offered by individual medical plans. Screenings include blood pressure, body fat, bone density, strength and flexibility, pulmonary function and cholesterol. To avoid waiting for a cholesterol test, the Benefits Department recommends booking a time slot by going to http://www.wellcall.com/. Click on "Members" and register as a new member; when asked for a company password, enter "Stanford." Once registered, click on "Well Schedule" and select a time for the cholesterol screening. (No fasting is required for the test.)
In additional to all the health plans, other participants at the fair will include the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Stanford's Ergonomics Program, Parking and Transportation Services, the Faculty and Staff Help Center, the Health Improvement Program, Stanford Hospital and Clinics, and the WorkLife Office.
The fair also will feature health workshops and seminars, massage therapists, a gift for all visitors and drawings for special prizes. Details about the event, as well as information about the wellness initiative and incentives, are available on the BenefitSU website at http://benefitsu.stanford.edu/.
