As part of the athletic association's centennial celebration, ESPN has been showing NCAA's 100 Most Influential Student-Athletes, a two-part program featuring, among others, alumni athletes OTIS CHANDLER, JULIE FOUDY, EUNICE KENNEDY SHRIVER, ROBERT MATHIAS, SALLY RIDE and TIGER WOODS. A panel of college and university presidents, athletic directors, NCAA committee members and many others chose the full roster of athletes. The program first aired in mid-March, with the final showings slated for tonight, and again on Saturday, May 6, on ESPNU. Check your local cable company or satellite provider for exact times and channel.

A walking tour through Stanford's San Juan neighborhood, featuring four historic homes and their gardens, is scheduled for Sunday, April 30, from 1 to 4 p.m. The walk is sponsored by the Stanford Historical Society and includes one house with a separate apartment that served as a ballroom for an early resident, and another house with a secret suite of rooms under the staircase. Tickets can be obtained by mailing a check, payable to Stanford Historical Society, c/o Sweeney, P.O. Box 19290, Stanford, CA 94309. Tickets purchased by April 21 are $20 per person. Otherwise, it's $25 at the door. On Community Partnership Day, Friday, April 28, non-perishable food can be dropped off at the Arrillaga Alumni Center, Maples Pavilion, White Plaza and at the top of the Oval for a campus food drive benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank, a nonprofit organization that distributes more than 27 million pounds of food each year to low-income children, adults and seniors. Food will be collected from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Also, volunteers are still needed for the Urban Ministry Dinner that evening.)

Due to capacity crowds, the Benefits Department is asking that employees interested in attending one of the monthly retirement workshops reserve a seat in advance by calling 725-8356. Benefits staff say reservations will be required until a larger venue is secured. The brown-bag workshops, now named "Your Health Care Benefits in Retirement," are held at 651 Serra St., in the Amy Blue Conference Room, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The next one is April 28.
