The Great San Francisco Earthquake of April 18, 1906, was a watershed in the history of earthquake science, says Stanford geophysics Professor Gregory Beroza. In this video, Beroza presents new animation based, in part, on his recent study suggesting that the 1906 quake was much bigger than earlier estimates. That study was co-authored by Stanford Professor Paul Segall and graduate student Seok Goo Song.
