Researchers head to AIDS conference

Every two years, the International AIDS Conference connects researchers, government officials and advocates in an attempt to galvanize the world’s response to the epidemic. Beginning Sunday, several Stanford researchers will join 15,000 participants from 160 countries in Bangkok to present and hear the latest findings under the umbrella of this year’s theme: “Access for All.”

David Katzenstein, MD, associate professor of infectious diseases and geographic medicine, has long-standing ties with Zimbabwe, and many of the Stanford presentations stem from work there, such as evaluating the effectiveness of generic drugs, halting therapy to minimize drug need and testing for virus in the breast milk of an infected mother.
