The Stanford Medical Students’ 2nd annual Fall Forum on Community Health and Public Service will feature Steven Schroeder, MD, professor of health and health care at UC-San Francisco and a renowned health care advocate. Schroeder, who received his BA from Stanford in 1960, was president of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation from 1990 to 2002. The foundation funds research, educational and other projects aligned with its mission to "improve the health and health care of all Americans." One such project is the Smoking Cessation Leadership Center at UCSF, which Schroeder now directs. Schroeder will address "Good doctoring, social altruism, and responsible family life: Can you have your cake and eat it too?" at the forum. Sponsored by the School of Medcine, the event also will feature medical student research projects in service and partnership to underserved communities here and across the world. The forum will take place Oct. 14 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Bechtel Conference Center at 100 Encina Hall on the main campus and is open to all. Refreshments will be served. People planning to attend are asked to RSVP to stanfordfallforum@yahoo.com. Visit http://prisms.stanford.edu for details.
