ASSU Teaching Award goes to Associate Professor Luis Fraga

Luis Fraga, associate professor of political science, received the 2002-03 ASSU Teaching Award last month. According to the Associated Students' vice president, Joey Natoli, a panel of undergraduate senators of the ASSU chose Fraga from among nearly 50 nominations.

One nominator wrote that Fraga "encourages his students to think critically about our society's political and socioeconomic structures, but also further challenges us to think about how we might question and change those existing structures. In this way, he fosters a unique intellectual curiosity that helps us realize how our academic knowledge may be applied to real-world pursuits upon graduation."

Natoli praised Fraga for his contributions to undergraduate education and advising and for "greatly enriching the undergraduate experience for so many students."
