The Graduate Student Information Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays from Aug. 29 through Sept. 26. The center, located on the second floor of Tresidder Union next to the computer cluster, is open for the fifth year and staffed by the Graduate Life Office. It provides general information; telephones for free local calls; computers connected to Axess and the World Wide Web; campus maps; and pamphlets on Stanford, government and community resources. In other welcoming activities, new and continuing graduate students are invited to a reception from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, at the Hoover House, home of President Hennessy, at 623 Mirada Ave. And from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, the annual Graduate Orientation Activities Lunch and Information Event (GOALIE) will be held at the Canfield Courtyard, between the Law School and Meyer Library. From 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, a reception for spouses and partners of new and continuing students will be held in the Hacienda Commons area at Rains Houses.
