Yalom to receive Oskar Pfister Award from American Psychiatric Association

Irvin D. Yalom, professor emeritus of psychiatry, will receive the Oskar Pfister Award from the American Psychiatric Association on May 6 in New Orleans. The award is given for outstanding contributions to the combined fields of psychiatry and religion. Yalom is the author of numerous articles and books, including the widely used texts The Theory and Practice of Group Psychotherapy and Existential Psychotherapy and novels Love's Executioner and When Nietzsche Wept.
