Fee structure changing for preferred travel provider

Navigant International, Stanford's preferred travel provider, will increase travel agency fees in order to cover program costs.

The new fees will be effective Sept. 1 and will be tiered. This tiered fee structure better reflects actual costs incurred in providing the travel service. University officials believe the service is a good value and that the fees are lower than those charged by other agencies and other university travel programs.

Following is the fee structure for Navigant's services, effective Sept. 1:

  • Domestic agent-assisted ticket transactions: $20

  • International agent-assisted ticket transactions: $25

  • TRIP online bookings: $5

  • Paper ticket delivery surcharge (if e-ticket available): $10

A newly upgraded Travel website, TRIP, will be released in the next several weeks, with a lower service fee of $5 per transaction.

"In keeping with our goal of aligning fees with the actual costs incurred with ticketing, we are enthusiastic about being able to offer lower TRIP fees for the Stanford traveler," said Sherry Murphy, customer service manager with Travel and Reimbursement.
