Musical jam, Balkans dance on spring slate at Bechtel Center

An opportunity to play and listen to instruments will debut at the Bechtel International Center Monday, April 12.

The event, "One World, Many Cultures," kicks off at 9 p.m. in the center's assembly room. It is sponsored by Art for Peace and Human Rights International.

Eser Ayanoglu, Art for Peace director, said the aim of the gathering is to form a "fusion" of musical sounds. Those with ethnic instruments are encouraged to attend.

On May 2, the center will feature "Peace and Human Rights in the Balkans," an evening headlined by the Balkan musical group, Voluta Vox. Ayanoglu will teach Balkan dances, including those of the Kosovo region, prior to the concert. The schedule for the evening program is still unconfirmed. For more information, call (650) 723-1831.

There is no admission charge for either event. SR
