Talk on 'Theologian as Artist and Vice Versa'

Robert McAfee Brown, professor emeritus of theology and ethics at the Pacific School of Religion, will give a free, public reading from his most recent book and first novel, Dark the Night; Wild the Sea, and will reflect on "The Theologian as Artist and Vice Versa" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, in Oak East Lounge of Tresidder Union.

Brown was professor of religious studies at Stanford for 14 years and served as acting dean of Memorial Church for a year during the turbulent 1960s. He describes his new book as "a love story" and hopes, for the sake of discussion, that many who attend will have read the book, which is available at the library and at bookstores. The event is sponsored by Canterbury Episcopal Community, the Department of Religious Studies, the Department of Creative Writing and the Office of Religious Life.
