Manuelito Biag’s research focuses on schools as context for children’s academic, social, and emotional development. He attends particularly to the experience of low-income, immigrant, and racial/ethnic minority populations. Biag has conducted studies on a range of education and youth-related topics including school climate and connectedness, school-based health services, and teachers’ awareness of students’ mental health issues. He also has expertise in the area of positive youth development, examining issues such as resilience, out-of-school time opportunities, bullying, and the effects of the middle school transition on adolescents’ development.
